Hydrangea EZ Grill July 2011Temperatures are rising – and at last we see blue skies in Seattle!  Summer means cold drinks, outdoor games, friends and time spent standing around your grill showing your flipping expertise.  It also means prep time…cleaning up your yard which is a task that many of us dread after the winter damage.  Just washing down the weather-beaten furniture, to make them clean enough to actually sit on, can cause dread in our household.  This site shows you the best products to use to clean your outdoor furniture but we prefer to think about the fun side of summer.

What are your favorites and what can’t you live without this grilling season.    You’ll get automatic entry into our free grill random drawing just for posting an answer at the end of this blog.

Here are my top 10 must haves for summer and in no particular order.

1.     Grilling Planks are a great way to get that cedar flavor into your fish or keep your meat moist during grilling.  Find planks at Target or at any other store that sells charcoal nationwide.  Cost anywhere from $5 to $21.

2.     This RT600C Super-fast and water-resistant digital pocket thermometer is a great item for around $24.95 and sold by ThermoWorks.  It takes about 6 seconds to get a full reading on your food and can withstand temperatures to 302ºF.  Note:  not great for thin cuts of meat.

3.     Here at EZ Grill, we are crazy about SOP Mops.  The cotton brush heads absorb lots of basting goodness and allow you to slather sauce on your favorites grilled food.  Look for ones where the brush head detaches easily for cleaning.  Cost anywhere from $7 to $15.

4.      Love this Skewer Station with Skewers from Sur La Table.  Just grill your favorite foods on the skewers and then hang them on the skewer station for a dramatic presentation.  Cost is $40 for the stand plus 6 cast iron skewers.

5.       If you are lucky enough to live near a Piggly Wiggly store, pick up one of these unique burger presses.  Makes up to 6 quarter pound burgers – your way.  Comes with a scoop, aerator disc (so the last burger doesn’t sit in meat juices), separators, press and container.  You can purchase these on line in our Grilling on The Go bundles.

6.     When a quick grill is just not enough, we want to make sure you get to slow cook those ribs without the mess.  No lighter fuel needed.  No Chimney starter.  No piling charcoal and then distributing the coals.  Simply take out as many pouches as you want,  with charcoal neatly tucked inside, and light a corner.  Pouched charcoal can be found in military commissaries across the country, in Jerry’s Home Improvement Centers (OR), Rockland Kosher Supermarkets (NY) and Comer and Handy (WA).

7.     Of course our EZ Grills are something that you should never be without.  Extra guests – no problem.  Grab another grill and everyone can get served his or her favorite item quickly.   Great for the beach, camping, RVing, biking, vegetarians (who want a clean meat-free grill) or anytime you want great charbroiled flavor without any chemicals.  When you’re done, clean up is a breeze!   Buy them nationwide or online where shipping and handling is already included.  Until July 5th, enter code EZ4July at checkout and receive $3 off your purchase on line onlyGo to EZ Grill BUY NOW page

8.      We just love this Corn Zipper.  Roast your corn on the cob on the grill to get that great charbroiled flavor and then use this utensil to strip the corn two rows at a time.  This retails at around $13 – check on Amazon.

9.     This is a cool looking BBQ mitt called the Pit Mitt that can withstand temperatures up to 425 degrees and is machine washable!  Each mitt has a silicone cross design which helps your grip on even the most slippery of bbq slathered tongs.  Cost is about $16 for one Pitt Mitt glove.

10.    I absolutely love having all my spices in one easy container.   Dean Jacobs has a few seasoning spices just for BBQ.   There’s a Tailgater kit that has Lemon pepper & herbs, Southern Hickory, Chipotle Blend and Char Grill.  There’s a garlic plus season group, a seafood seasoning group… and they range from $6 to $20.  Easy to change your mind of the seasonings you want on your favorite grilled foods.
